$14 an hour - Part-time
This position interfaces with the Physician, Practice Manager, Patient Coordinator(s), Registered Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Certified Surgical Technologists, Estheticians, and Skincare Specialists. It also is the position that may have initial contact with prospective patients, consults and appointment patients. The purpose of this job is to lend office support to Dr. Murphy.
Responsible for managing the front desk as needed. This includes but is not limited to: greeting patients, taking new patient paperwork and medical histories while keeping records confidential and in order, answering phones, checking patients in and out, scheduling post-operative appointments, and point of sale.
Responsible for seeing post-operative patients with Dr. Murphy and assisting with post-operative care. This includes but is not limited to: clearing away contaminated supplies and instruments, monitoring the status of the patient, changing dressings, checking on incisions, removing sutures, and ensuring the patient understands how to care for themselves.
Assisting consultation patients with breast implant sizing during their consultation visits.
Responsible for assisting Certified Surgical Technologist as needed. This can include but is not limited to: sterilizing medical instruments, keeping the treatment/exam rooms stocked and organized.
The Medical Assistant may be asked to assist Dr. Murphy on “local” days. Local days are days that Dr. Murphy dedicates to performing procedures under local anesthetic. No general or monitored anesthesia care is given. Local days are typically 1x/month, usually on a Friday.
Candidate must be able to work Mondays and Wednesdays and must be able to arrive to work by 8:00AM. Our office closes at 5:00PM on Mondays and Wednesdays, but we are looking for a candidate who is flexible, as they may have to stay later than 5:00PM or may have to leave earlier if it’s a shorter day. Hours vary throughout the week. We do not promise a set amount of hours per week or month, as it will greatly vary depending on the patient load and Dr. Murphy’s schedule. The Medical Assistant will be available during times when patients are scheduled to be seen in the office. A thirty minute self-appointed lunch time is permitted and should be taken. It is not to interfere with scheduled patient care. The Medical Assistant should arrive fifteen minutes prior to the first patient and should plan for non-patient time to prepare for the following day’s patient schedule, checking EMR and patient telephone calls.
On days when patients will be present, professional business attire is required.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma required.
  • The ability to type quickly and accurately, customer service experience, and phone experience.
  • Candidate must have a pleasant personality for patient interaction.
  • Computer literacy, pleasant voice and legible handwriting are required.
  • This position calls for self-direction and motivation and the ability to handle stress in a medical environment as well as the ability to communicate and organize efficiently. A high level of competence, patience, integrity, confidentiality and congeniality is required.
