Property IntroductionNestled at the base of Vail Mountain, Vail Cascade has been a symbol of comfort, adventure and service in Vail, Colorado since 1982. The mountain resort features 292 guestrooms, 85 condominiums and private homes, the award-winning Aria Spa & Club, state-of-the-art meeting facilities, and the fabulous, new Atwater on Gore Creek restaurant. The Cascade also offers an adjacent chair-lift for ski-in, ski-out lodging access to 5,289 acres of world-renowned skiing, with the convenience of our personalized ski-valet service. During the summer, the Cascade is situated just steps from beautiful hiking trails, fly-fishing creeks, bike paths and a number of summer pleasures. With the completion of a $30 million renovation, the Cascade offers excellent conference and meeting facilities, boutiques, sporting shops and a true Vail experience.
Job Description
Job Overview:

Effectively manage operational aspects of the spa to include adequate staffing levels, managing, maintaining and controlling budget, establishing and maintaining high level of customer service based on Vail Cascade Resort and Spa guiding principles and culture. Spa Supervisor, Spa Coordinators, Massage Therapists, Estheticians and Nail Technicians ensuring proper techniques and service standards are met.  In addition, works closely with Resort Sales and Marketing and Conference Services in an effort to maximize spa services and retail sales to all resort and group guests.

Essential Functions:

· Must have a working understanding of Resort culture and vision.
· Must be able to handle pressure situations with ease.
· Hires, fires, disciplines and counsels massage therapists, estheticians, nail technicians.
· Completes and submits payroll on a biweekly basis for all spa staff.
· Responsible for reviewing daily forecasts and budget and managing expenses as well as  reviewing daily sales to be sure controls/systems are in place to ensure accuracy.
· Oversee management of professional inventory to include ordering, receiving and inventory in conjunction with Account Manager and Lead Therapist.
· Participates in weekly Spa & Club MOD meetings and functions.
· Attend weekly Resort Heath, Leadership meetings
· Performs associate’s 90 day and annual evaluations on Spa Supervisor, Spa Coordinators, Massage Therapists, Estheticians, Nail Technicians providing corrective measure and recommends compensation.
· Responsible for timeliness of administrative duties, inventory, evaluations and group contracts.
· Executes HRAF’s and discussion documentation.
· Updates daily associate punch edit sheets.
· Assist in ensuring cleanliness of public spa areas to include spa retail, treatment rooms, storage areas and product storage.
· Responsible for coordination and execution of spa packages.
· Coordinates all immediate staff meetings.
· Primary contact for all Group business and sales activity working directly with VCR Conference Services and Sales and externally with DMC’s and other sales arenas (ie: concierges, wedding planners, etc).
· Attend group pre-con meetings as requested.
· Coordinates and executes all group activity regarding spa to include booking spa appointments, follow-up with group contact, and billing
· Oversee, manage, and supports Spa Supervisor.
· Assists Spa Supervisor with hiring, firing, disciplining and counseling of Spa Coordinators.
· Assists Spa Coordinators with spa reservations, guest check –in and other spa coordinator duties when needed.
· Assist other areas in supervisory fashion as needed.
· Create, manage and update procedure manuals for all operation aspects of the spa.
· Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to include: Basic Spa Procedures and Protocols; Product Requisitions; Safety Procedures; Schedule Change Protocol; Employee Procedures, etc.
· Coordinates and oversees training opportunities regarding new associates on both services and retail product lines.
· Coordinate and standardize all rules and regulations regarding coordinators, massage therapists, nail technicians and estheticians.
· Partners with Marketing Director and Resort AGM in determining marketing strategies based on sales activity
· Consistently researches and recommends change in retail and professional products, keeping abreast of market and industry trends/changes.
· Participates in updating and creating Spa menu.
· Recommends frequency for spa education for spa associates.
· Promotes and champions resort culture and guiding principles, leads this process on an ongoing basis.
· Seeks continued self-development opportunities.
· Display and model managerial etiquette.
· Assists in conducting monthly trend statistics on treatments and peak operating times.
· Ensures that associates meet all department dress & grooming standards.
· Provide continual direction and training regarding standards for guest service, treatment rooms and product knowledge.
· Act as liaison between internal and external departments.
· Other duties as assigned.

 
Required Qualifications
  · Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  · Minimum of 3-5 years experience in Spa operations or related field
  · Minimum of 2 year experience in customer service and sales
  · Must have working knowledge of computer programs:  Word, Excel and Microsoft Outlook
  · Must be able to speak, hear and understand the English language
  · Must be able to read and write the English language
  · Must be able to stand for up to 4-6 hours per day
  · Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
  · Must have good guest and associate relations’ skills
  · Must be detail oriented with good organizational skills
  · Strong leadership abilities
  · Competent in written and verbal communication
  · Competent in sales negotiation

 
Preferred Qualifications
· 2-3 years experience in a group sales role
· 1 year experience in a marketing role
· Knowledge of POS/Booking SoftwareQualified in one or more of the following: massage therapist or esthetician
