Medical Assistant & Aesthetician

Job Summary: Assist the clinical and clerical aspects of patient care. Perform and assist our patients with proper techniques and products to promote optimum skin care.
Education & Training: 
  • High School Diploma
  • Completion of a certified Aesthetic program
  • Completion of a certified Medical Assistant program
  • Current Colorado Aesthetician's License
Qualifications & Experience: 
  • At least three years of work experience in a medical setting; surgical experience preferred.
  • Solid understanding of patient flow in a medical practice with emphasis on patient care issues.
  • Competent with sterile technique.
  • Knowledge of aesthetic equipment used in our practice
  • Knowledge of all chemicals used, reactions and complications
  • Understanding basic marketing principles to promote skin care
  • Comfortable using email and interacting with internet and web-based applications
  • Familiarity and competence with medical terminology
  • Understanding of medical/documentation/charting
  • Able to perform phlebotomy and process lab specimens
  • Understanding of health insurance processes related to lab requests
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office , Electronic Medical Record, search engine and internet)
  • Basic Life Support (CPR) Certification

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: 
  • Greet and escort patients to exam rooms and prepare patient for exam
  • Maintain patient flow
  • Communicate and coordinate any changes in the schedule to clinicians and office staff
  • Constant maintenance and immaculate (hygienic/sterile) cleanliness of exam rooms, all patient areas and entire facility:
  • Maintain supplies counts and equipment availability
  • Orderly appearance of supply cabinets
  • Orderly appearance of exam rooms
  • Adequate supply of clean robes and linens, neatly folded and stacked
  • Check/prepare exam rooms each morning before the start of office hours

  • Assist with all exam room procedures.
  • Assist with surgical duties as needed and directed by the OR supervisor.
  • Prepare exam room instruments for sterilization/ packing and stocking/storage.
  • Photograph patients following clinical photography standards and as directed by Dr. Zwiebel
  • Charting and maintenance of the patients electronic medical records (EMR)
  • Adherence to guidelines of medical record confidentiality and communication (including HIPAA regulations).
  • Provide skin care expertise to patients
  • Maintain skin care treatment rooms for cleanliness
  • Sell products to non-surgical and surgical patients to maintain optimum skin care or prepare for a surgical procedure.
  • Comfortable working with sales goals
  • Maintain optimal communication with the other clinic staff
Typical Physical Demands: Position requires prolonged standing and walking, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate medical and office equipment is also required. Employee must have adequate speech, hearing and eyesight to communicate with patients and staff, and legible handwriting and language skills to prepare and record appropriate reports.
