Job Overview Our Nail Technician/ Esthetician must have a minimum of 2 years of experience and be able to perform a professional nail service and should be trained and certified in both natural and artificial nail services. As an Esthetician you are required to perform a professional facial and should be trained and certified in all of the following techniques: Microdermabrasion, Chemical Peels, Waxing, Tinting, and Skincare. Must be willing to train in our spas specific facials nail services and body treatment offerings. General Responsibilities Must be able to remove previously applied nail polish, using liquid remover and swabs. Clean customers nails in soapy water, using swabs, files and orange sticks. Shape smooth ends of nails, using scissors, files or emery boards. Apply undercoat and clear or polish onto nails with brush. Advise clients on nail care and use of products and colors. Assess the condition of clients hands, remove dead skin from both hands and feet and massage them. Soften nail cuticles with water and oil, push back cuticles, using cuticle tool, and trim cuticles using scissors or nippers. Brush powder and solvent onto nails and paper forms to maintain nail appearance and to extend nails, then remove forms and shape and smooth nail edges using rotary abrasive wheel. Treat nails to repair or improve strength and resilience by wrapping or provide treatment to nail biters. Whiten underside of nails with white paste or pencils. Decorate clients nails by attaching ornaments or designs. Must be able to identify skin conditions and determine the appropriate type of care to correct or improve the condition. Give facial treatments appropriate for skin concerns and conditions. Demonstrate how to clean and care for skin properly and recommend skin-care regimens. Examine clients' skin, using magnifying lamps or visors when necessary, to evaluate skin condition and appearance. Treat the facial skin to maintain and improve its appearance, using specialized techniques and products, such as peels and masks. Perform simple extractions to remove blackheads. Determine which of the Spas skincare products will improve clients' skin quality and appearance and suggest at home care utilizing the spas retail products. Refer clients to medical personnel for treatment of serious skin problems. Must be able to provide a relaxing service utilizing massage techniques and a variety of treatment products such as paraffin and masks and wraps. Keep records of client needs and preferences and the services provided. Must meet project product sales and sales goals Must possess excellent communication skills and be able to learn the product and service knowledge necessary to effectively provide excellent service to our members and their guests Therapists must hold and maintain a current state licenses as well as carry their own O&E insurance Must be able to engage the Membership with a smile and professional greeting each and every time they enter the building. Must be able to answer the phone and book appointments Individual must be willing to assist with all tasks at the Spa and Fitness Center during times when therapists do not have booked appointments Be on time for you shift, prompt with each appointment and perform services within the appropriate time allotted for the service. Effectively inform and educate our Members about specific wellness concerns. Be flexible with your schedule, supporting the needs of the spa. Properly care for equipment and use proper amounts of product to assist with cost controls. Have complete knowledge and understanding of all services and products offered. Uphold the standards of sanitation and sterilization as directed by law and the spas polices and procedures. Perform prep work, properly clean and restock room as required Communicate to management any and all occurrences involving staff or guests in the spa that require attention. Actively promote the Spa and Club, treatments, services and retail, as well as programs, promotions and/or discounts available. Handle members questions and concerns professionally and courteously. Provide accurate, appropriate and immediate responses to all requests by guests. Possess the ability to work without direct supervision. Maintain a positive attitude and contribute toward a quality work environment. Regularly attend, participate in and support training and staff meetings for the spa. Assist in all areas of spa operation as requested by management. Communicate to management any and all occurrences involving staff or guests in the spa that require attention. Greets the Members with a warm welcomes, and shows them to the locker room and amenities, and helping them to have a seamless experience. Remembers the details the members favorite drink, birthdays and anniversaries, and relays that to the rest of the team Assist in generating ideas for retail sales and spa specials. Job Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred Experience: Two Years of Esthetician experience Excellent oral communication skills required Positive interpersonal skills required Must speak English fluently and be able to write in basic English Physical Requirements: Frequent sitting with some walking and standing Ability to lift 5 lbs Occasionally lifts/carries up to 15 lbs Continual use of manual dexterity and gross motor skills with frequent use of bi-manual dexterity and fine motor skills Able to reach hands and arms in any direction and kneel, stoop or crouch repeatedly Ability to provide skincare services on average 7-8 hours per shift.
